DB broadband concludes framework agreement with EnBW telecommunications company.

The energy supplier EnBW, together with its telecommunications companies Plusnet and NetCom BW, will in future use the free capacities in Deutsche Bahn's fibre optic network. This is made possible by a framework agreement that the EnBW subsidiaries have concluded with the railway subsidiary DB broadband. 

By leasing unused fibre optic cables (dark fibre) from DB, Plusnet and NetCom BW are increasing the reach of their own backbone infrastructure - an important basis for the further expansion of fibre optic connection networks for private and business customers. 

Through the cooperation with DB broadband, EnBW and its telecommunications subsidiaries can further accelerate the expansion of fibre optics in the respective target market - NetCom BW in Baden-Württemberg and neighbouring Bavaria, Plusnet in the rest of Germany. This is because by using the existing railway infrastructure, the companies avoid long development routes and can further extend the reach of modern telecommunications services quickly and efficiently. 

DB broadband markets the free capacities in Deutsche Bahn's fibre optic network. This network runs along the railway lines and covers more than 20,000 kilometres. By 2026/2027, DB's entire route network (33,400 km) is to be supplied with fibre optics.
